Yemen is a country in Asia; its capital is Sana'a. Its flag is often confused with Egypt, Iraq, Syria.
Meaning & history of the Yemen flag
Yemen's flag has three horizontal bands of red, white and black — the plain Pan-Arab tricolour, shared in essence with the wider Arab nationalist tradition. Red represents the blood of martyrs and the struggle for unity, white a bright future and hope, and black the dark days of the past. It was adopted in 1990 on the unification of North and South Yemen.
