Meaning & history of the Egypt flag
Egypt's flag has red, white and black horizontal bands with the golden Eagle of Saladin centred. The colours are the Pan-Arab tricolour: red for the struggle against oppression, white for a bright future, and black for the dark past of colonial rule. The eagle, a medieval emblem associated with Saladin, represents strength and Arab nationalism.
