Meaning & history of the Iraq flag
Iraq's flag has red, white and black horizontal bands — the Pan-Arab colours — with the takbir 'Allahu Akbar' (God is great) in green Kufic script centred on the white band. Red represents courage, white generosity, black the triumphs of Islam, and the green inscription the faith. The script was restyled in 2008 to replace an earlier version.
