Meaning & history of the United Arab Emirates flag
The United Arab Emirates' flag uses the four Pan-Arab colours: a red vertical band at the hoist and horizontal bands of green, white and black. Red represents unity and the blood of patriots, green the land's fertility and prosperity, white peace and honesty, and black the strength of mind and the defeat of enemies. It unites the seven emirates, formed in 1971.
