Meaning & history of the Colombia flag
Colombia's flag has a broad yellow band across the top half over equal blue and red bands. Yellow represents the nation's gold and wealth, blue the seas and rivers bordering the country, and red the blood shed for independence. The colours were used by the liberator Francisco de Miranda and are shared by Ecuador and Venezuela, once united as Gran Colombia.
