Meaning & history of the Norway flag
Norway's flag is a red field with a blue Scandinavian cross fimbriated in white. Combining the red-and-white of Denmark, with which Norway was long united, and adding the blue of freedom associated with France and independence movements, the design places Norway among the Nordic cross flags. It dates to 1821.
