Tonga is a country in Oceania; its capital is Nuku'alofa.

Meaning & history of the Tonga flag

Tonga's flag is red with a white canton bearing a red couped cross. Red represents the blood of Christ and his sacrifice, and the cross the Christian faith deeply held by the Tongan people. The constitution stipulates the flag must never be altered. Its design was fixed in the 1860s; a plain red cross on white had been used earlier before it resembled the Red Cross emblem.
