Meaning & history of the Solomon Islands flag

The Solomon Islands' flag is divided by a thin yellow diagonal stripe into a blue upper triangle bearing five white stars and a green lower triangle. Blue represents the surrounding ocean, green the land and forests, and the yellow stripe the sun. The five stars stand for the country's original five districts. It was adopted at independence in 1978.
