Meaning & history of the Sierra Leone flag

Sierra Leone's flag has three horizontal bands of green, white and blue. Green represents the country's agriculture, mountains and natural resources, white unity and justice, and blue the hope of contributing to world peace through the fine natural harbour at Freetown. The simple, calm design was adopted at independence from Britain in 1961.
