Panama's flag is quartered: a white rectangle with a blue star (hoist top), a red rectangle (fly top), a white rectangle with a red star (fly bottom) and a blue rectangle (hoist bottom). Blue and red were linked to the country's historical political parties, white to peace between them; the blue star stands for purity and honesty, the red for authority and law.
