Mongolia's flag has red bands framing a blue central band, with the golden Soyombo symbol on the hoist-side red band. Red represents progress and prosperity, blue the eternal sky sacred in Mongol tradition. The Soyombo is a columnar arrangement of elements — fire, sun, moon, earth, water and the taiji — representing freedom and the nation's philosophy.
