Meaning & history of the Marshall Islands flag

The Marshall Islands' flag is blue with two diagonal stripes of orange over white widening from the hoist, and a large white 24-point star in the upper hoist. Blue is the Pacific Ocean, the orange stripe courage and the Ratak (sunrise) chain, the white peace and the Ralik (sunset) chain. The star's rays represent the electoral districts, with four longer points forming a cross.
