Meaning & history of the Lesotho flag

Lesotho's flag has horizontal bands of blue, white and green with a black 'mokorotlo' — a traditional Basotho straw hat — centred. Blue represents the sky and rain, white peace, and green prosperity and the land. The black hat, adopted in 2006 to mark 40 years of independence, symbolises the Basotho people and their heritage.
