Lebanon's flag has a broad white central band, twice the height of the red bands above and below, bearing a green cedar tree. The red stands for the blood of martyrs, white for peace and the snow of the mountains, and the Lebanon cedar for holiness, eternity and peace — a tree celebrated since antiquity and central to national identity.
