Meaning & history of the Laos flag

Laos's flag has a red band top and bottom framing a broad blue central band with a white disc at its centre. Red represents the blood shed in the struggle for freedom, blue the wealth of the country and the Mekong River, and the white disc the full moon over the Mekong and the unity of the people under the communist government. It was adopted in 1975.
