Meaning & history of the Israel flag

Israel's flag is white with two horizontal blue stripes and a blue Star of David centred. The design was inspired by the Jewish prayer shawl, the tallit, with its blue stripes on white cloth. The Star of David (Magen David) is an ancient and widely recognised symbol of Judaism and the Jewish people. It was adopted in 1948.
