Gabon's flag has three horizontal bands of green, yellow and blue. Green represents the country's extensive rainforests and timber wealth, yellow the equator that runs through the nation and the sun, and blue the Atlantic coastline and sea. It is one of few flags with no charge, adopted at independence from France in 1960.
