Moldova's flag is a vertical tricolour of blue, yellow and red bearing the national coat of arms — an eagle holding a shield with an aurochs head — centred on the yellow. The colours match Romania's, reflecting shared heritage, and Moldova is one of few countries whose flag differs front and back. It was adopted in 1990 as the country broke from the USSR.
