Lithuania's flag is a horizontal tricolour of yellow, green and red. Yellow represents the sun, prosperity and the fields of grain, green the forests, countryside and hope, and red the blood and courage of those who defended the nation. First used in the early 20th century, it was suppressed under Soviet rule and readopted in 1989.
